Ian Curtis, a true artist, was born in Manchester in 1956. He was the vocalist and lyricist of the band Joy Division.
Curtis died young but his music will always remind us of his great talent! Apart from the great songs he wrote, Curtis was also known for keeping a low profile (that paradoxically was transformed into wild on stage), his 'emotional isolation' image and his unique dancing style.
His personal life was complicated, and at times, alienated from people around him. He also faced health problems as he suffered from epilepsy.

A few weeks before the band was about to go on their first America concert tour, Ian Curtis hanged himself in the kitchen of his house, on May 18 1980, at the age of 23.
Some people say his music is sad and depressing but I think Curtis was living with intensity every moment of his reality due to the depth of his thinking...he was a troubled artist with fragile personality trying to find a way out through his music...that is why most of his albums have such an emotional impact.

Ian Curtis is definitely one of my favourite artists.
I always think how fortunate were those who attended Joy Division's concert appearances...
