Lisa Fonssagrives (1911–1992) was a swedish model who lived in Paris and has been called the first supermodel. She worked with great photographers at the time such as Man Ray and Richard Avedon. She married the photographer Fernand Fonssagrives and after their divorce she married the famous photographer Irving Penn.
Fonssagrives had a great figure and style and appeared in numerous Vogue covers. She was the first high-paid model and she often described herself as simply a "good clothes hanger". Due to her early training in ballet she had a unique posing style. She used to say that modeling is simply "still-dancing".
